The Market Theatre's One Year Course is a full time training programme that conditions and prepares the student for the reality of the entertainment profession. In order to achieve this, the theatre requires all students to be fully committed.

Discipline is strict, and punctuality and attendance are insisted upon. (There is an awful lot to learn before graduation and the prospect of a London Showcase.)

Approximately 60% of the course deals with all Acting Styles and Genres, 30% with Singing, Musical Theatre and Cabaret and 10% with Dance and Movement. The course is 100% practical.

The student is expected to be self-motivated and the course will prepare him/her to be employed, and at the same time, it will inform them how to cope with the pressures of unemployment.

The working day is from 9.00 to 5.00, Monday to Friday. The course is split into three terms; the weeks contained within those three terms will vary. Overall, the course will run approximately 30 weeks.

Students are expected to attend all classes with a positive and energetic attitude. All decisions made by the Market Theatre are made with the interests of the student at heart. The student will be guaranteed equality in training and the course will consistently mirror the realities of the profession.
